Writing for Scholarly Publications Series - Part One

All University of South Carolina advisors who are interested in writing are encouraged to contribute to the expanding professional literature on the field of academic advising, the first-year experience, and student transitions. This workshop will introduce advisors to the value of contributing to scholarship, the process of drafting and submitting manuscripts for publication, and will explore a variety of venues for publication including organization blogs, practitioner newsletters, journals, and even scholarly books.

At the conclusion of this session, interested participants will be paired with a writing accountability partner.

At the conclusion of the series, the intent is for interested participants to have a manuscript ready for submission.

Learning Outcomes:

Session participants will:

-Recognize the importance of practitioner-scholarship

-Understand the process of writing for publication

-Identify and differentiate between various venues for publication

-Formulate potential topics that they would be interested in further exploring for publication
