Appreciative Advising Workshop
This in-person workshop will focus on providing an overview of this exciting movement within the academic advising community called Appreciative Advising. The presentation is based on the book titled, The Appreciative Advising Revolution. The six phases of Appreciative Advising – Disarm, Discover, Dream, Design, Deliver, and Don't Settle – will be defined. Participants will not only learn what each phase means, but they will also have the opportunity to learn how to implement each of these phases.
After attending this session, participants will be able to:
1. Define Appreciative Advising.
2. Define and understand the main tenets of the six phases of Appreciative Advising.
3. Use specific advising techniques and sample questions to solicit narrative inquiry responses from advisees.
